Do your balls really have taste buds? It's a question doing the rounds of social media as testes get dunked in everything from soy sauce to icing sugar. We wanted to find out the truth to reveal it to you.

The short answer? No.

Remove your junk from the bowlful of jelly. Testicles don't have tastebuds. Tjeu don't have clusters of taste receptor cells. You won't be able to taste soy sauce through your stones.

"Taste buds are in our mouths and upper oesophagus only, and are a group of taste receptor cells. The signals from the taste buds are sent from the mouth to the brain so that we can consciously perceive tastes," Emma Beckett, a food and nutrition scientist from The University of Newcastle in Australia told ScienceAlert.

A review in Molecular Human Reproduction found that all humans have receptors that can taste and these are found all over the body - from the digestive system, respiratory system and brain to the testis and spermatozoa. But these aren't tastebuds!

So no amount of covering your cahonies in cheese will result in a taste sensation. Your nangs do wonderful things but tasting food is not one of those things.
