Jada Pinkett Smith Reveals Sex Toy Obsession

On the most recent episode of her Facebook Watch Series 'Red Table Talk' Jada Pinkett Smith discussed how different types of addictions has affected her life. These addictions were not only to do with her, but her mother as well.

"When I was younger, I definitely think I had a sex addiction of some kind, yes, that everything could be fixed by sex."

These self-diagnosed addictions were recognised by Jada due to drastic changes in behaviour. "It's the behaviour that's attached to it because if you want to have a lot of sex, that's great. But why are you having all that sex? That's what you’ve got to look at."

Jada went on to discuss her addiction to sex toys "I've had a lot of experience with sex toys – lots." Describing a phase in her life where she refrained from partnered sex.

"And then one day, I was like, enough. You're having five orgasms a day."

Buying sex toys for many can be a worry. Having thoughts such as "will I become addicted to this toy? Will I be able to climax without it? Will using this toy make me less sensitive?"

Jada's analysis states that her addiction didn't affect her sex drive or partnered sex life. Except her obsession was more to do with the underlying emotional circumstance driving it. Five orgasms a day also sounds like it could cause some time poverty!

However, Jada was able to fight her demons on her own. Being strong enough to go cold turkey once she realised that her binging of any temporary addiction was becoming overly obsessive.

Jada's advocacy was applauded at Adulttoymegastore. Whenever the use of a sex toy is affecting your life or those around you, it may be time to take a leaf out of Jada's book and ask yourself, "why am I using this?"

Becoming addicted to sex toys is a myth. Yet, it's still important to acknowledge that becoming reliant on sex toys and enjoying sex toys a lot can cause tension in romantic relationships. Sometimes the excitement to use a sex toy can take the focus off of our partner and affect intimacy levels.
